Svalbard 1916
John Munroe Longyear was the man who started modern coalmining on Svalbard.
He founded a little society/mining camp around Artic Coal Company. Location: Advents fjorden, Svalbard.
That's why the place is called Longyearbyen. Not because the winter time is spent in total darkness and a year feel's quite long up here in the norht. It's the founders last name.
Now a day's there is just one mine running -Gruve 7. You can buy small glasses who contains coal from -Gruve 7 in the store. Or you can pick it yourself. It is every where.


Mum has felt that she was omboard a boat when she is inside the house. There is reasons why. Becuse of the permafrost, the houses are built on wooden poles. They are never still in the wind.
