Opera-fjell accident happend 29/8-1996 and it took the lives of 141 people. A Russian jetplain, type Tupolev 154, with the number RA-85621 from Vnuko Airlines in Moskva crashed in to the Operafjellet on Svalbard 14km east from the airport during landing on Svalbard airport who is located west of of Longyearbyen.
The plane came from Vnuko airport near Moskva and had 130 passangere, Russian and Ukrainen mineworkers with family members and eleven crew members.
All 141 onboard the aero-plane died. The bodies were brought to Tromsö for identification. After memorial in Tromsöhallen the coffins was sendt back to the home villages in Ukraina and Russia.
It was human mistakes who made this accident.

Operafjället, at an altitude of 907m the plane crashed. On the top it is a memorial of the worst single aircraft accident in the Norwegian history.
